The Ugly Side of Thrifting

The Ugly Side of Thrifting

Although I love thrifting, there are some things I don’t really mention much when it comes to the cons. So, here are some things I hate about vintage and thrift shopping!

  1. The smell.  It can be pretty strong. ...And you can never be too sure what it is. I try not to even think about it. Moving on…Wash everything and use baking soda, vinegar and a good scent booster along with your detergent!

  2. Awkward Sizing. Trying to figure out what size vintage clothes are can be a chore. So I have to try everything on. Unless there’s an elastic waist. We LOVE elastic waistbands.

  3. Holes/Stains. The worst thing is when you find a piece you really love, happily pick it up, only to find a huge hole or weird, unidentified stain!

  4. Finders Keepers. Pick it up even if you aren’t sure you want it. You can always put it back. I usually have a “go back” session right before I pay, just to be sure.

  5. Impulse buying. Everything is so affordable you tend to buy things you don’t need. So, beware! I was definitely guilty of this. I have cut down on my consumption considerably!

    6. You can’t get your money back. You can waste money if you’re not thoughtful in your purchasing. Most times you can exchange but no refunds!

Besides these few cons, I still Love thrifting!

    Thanks for reading!

    Lo

Here’s a thrifted look! Shorts and top from Salvation Army...$4 total for both! I paired it with some leopard sandals because leopard is my favorite wildcard to add to any look!
